By Michael

August 23, 2018

Did you let that photo up above stop you for a second?

What in the heck does a chain have to do with Sciatica?

Come in close, Sciatica is a cause for a chain of events and it is the effect of another more serious issue…

Chronic lower back pain!

The process of lower back pain usually looks like:

1) Lower back pain originates as acute

2) Increase in pain becomes sub acute

3) 3 months, or even 6 months after, pain turns into chronic

4) Anything greater, results in Sciatica

As you can see, lower back pain will come in all different shapes and sizes. You could either have a light flare, a slowly occurring and appearing injury, pain that goes away for a short time, then comes back months later, or even long-lasting.

Then there is Sciatica(Step 4 above). Unlike all the other types of lower back pains, sciatica is very easy to differentiate and spot mainly because there is no hiding it.

With my experiences, first and second hand, I want to help be your guide to treating your sciatica. There are two steps to this diagnosis,. I’ll go through everything about the diagnosis, its symptoms, various treatments, and I’ll get to what is the best treatment for sciatica available including:

  1. How to define it
  2. The worst things to do
  3. How to progress
  4. What you can do right now
  5. Top 10 Treatments(#10 Is Best)

Plus if you stick with me until the end of this article, you’ll see my #1 recommendation for long-term ULTIMATE relief! Feel free to skip to #10 on the list if you want to see the best of the best too.

Let’s get right into it.

You Can’t Treat What You Don’t Know

Like finding someone in a game of hide and go seek in the dark and just running around without a flashlight on hand, you can’t expect to find and cure your sciatica nerve can you?

Fist we have to answer this special question: “Where is the sciatica nerve?

For many of us, we struggle with an awkward pain rushing down into our leg, and causing pain signals to work their way up into our head. The slightest movement can feel like our lives are in jeopardy. But don’t give up your hopes, you’ve come to the right place for help.

What is Sciatica? For those of us that are not familiar with this word, Sciatica is a painful condition in which there is inflammation on one or multiple nerves in your lower back.

You have a pinched nerve on the lower back of your spine, and when it does, it can make its way through your sciatic nerve, which runs through the length of each of your leg, from buttock, down to the foot.

The most common cause is associated with a herniated disc. When a herniated disc tears or cracks, it will bulge into the spinal canal. From here, it’ll likely pinch your sciatic nerve.

In more specific detail, this is what’s happening:

The herniated disk is putting pressure around your nerves, which is well-known as Sciatic Nerve.

The sciatic nerve originates in the lower back, and it makes it s way down either your left or right leg, from the hips to the ankle. You could feel a numbness or tingle in your toes.

There are 3 phases of pain you can experience.

  1. Mild
  2. sharp
  3. severe pain

and along with these three levels of sciatic nerve pain, there are three conditions:

  • acute sciatica. occurs suddenly, and can usually heal in a matter of days. It’s directly a tissue damage problem, where it can affect your joints, discs, nerves, muscles or ligaments.
  • chronic sciatica. This is when your pain is persisting for more than 3 months, and that source might be hard to determine. The things you love to do every day are likely to be affected, and it will hold you back.

You can have the most mild symptom, but the pain simply will not go away over time. If a couple weeks pass by, then it’s time phone and check in with your doctor.

When you feel sharp pain, it can follow after a hard injury, like that of a car accident, a large fall. Usually what corresponds with it is muscle weakness and numbness in the legs.

You can detect severe pain way before it begins. At the sharp stage, you should be prepared. Why?

This is because you could have a damaged nerve. You will feel it when you are sitting for a period.

Whether you are in the lowest or highest amount of pain, it is important to always first have a check with your doctor for a diagnosis.

You’re Climbing Back Up, But the Wrong Way

Since we just covered how Sciatica can show up, whether that be acute or chronic, its only right we talk about what you shouldn’t do with it.

What does your heart and mind tell you after you’ve come across many streams of information on the web, in person, in a book, telling you the best way to treat sciatica nerve pain? I know it’s in the thousands. I want to turn your ship and help you sail in the right direction.

The source begins with what you hear from other people. First of all, lets get one thing down. Sciatica is a symptom, it is NOT a diagnosis. Second, opioids will not be an option.

Opioids are single handily masking the inflammation, and only temporarily causing the pain to go away. Painkillers will do you no good. Further on, acupuncture, and biofeedback will not help.

Your first step is to always consult with a doctor. It is what you implement thereafter that matters.

Your problem can either be a quick fix, or a long strenuous one, depending on the patient that is. But what if I told you didn’t have to spend thousands and thousands of dollars at the doctors, and chiropractors?

Progress Through The Fundamentals

I Can Say There is Freedom

It only takes weeks! Most patients actually heal much quicker and better than surgery. It is better to tackle the problem head on right away than wait for time to pass you by. That is why it’s good to know what is the best treatment for sciatica pain sooner rather than later.

You’ll understand things better when you know what to avoid, and know what to do.

These tips and tricks will help those dealing with acute and chronic sciatic nerve pain. As you go through these points, and you go to implement them and they haven’t worked well, just wait till the very end, because you’ll see the #1 treatment for Sciatica. If you think you’ve tried everything, and haven’t seen progress, you can scroll to the very bottom now.

sciatica treatments

Let’s start with a good old flexibility workout.

For anyone who just started with the symptoms, this is the place to start. Stretching will serve two purposes. It will reduce the sciatic pain in near terms, and will provide conditioning to your back for it to prevent sciatica pain from returning. Some of the best stretches you can do, and look like the following are:

  • hamstring stretches. The right posture and movement is key.
  • Aerobic exercises. Start by walking. It is the first thing you should do when you have sciatica.
  • Core muscle strength. Workout your abdominal muscles, because your core is crucial to pushing back your lumbar spine

Key: Low impact = long term benefits

There are times where setting stretches will work great and others that will not alleviate your pain for days, weeks, or months. But there are 3 stretches that I finally found that were able to take me away from the chiropractor, away from my meds, and keep me away from wasting more years, money and wasted energy. Check out the stretches I’m talking about right here, along with many others.

Yoga On Your Nerve?:

The #1 Way I find to decrease my sciatic nerve pain is through yoga. Whether you’re a beginner or an expert, yoga will work to fix your muscle imbalances, in so keeping your disc from compressing into your nerves.

My patients with chronic lower back pain that practiced a specific style of yoga known as IYnegar yoga for 16 weeks, reduced their pain by 66%! and their disability by 79%!

Amazing right?

By strengthening, and doing flexibility exercises, your sciatic nerve pain will be put at ease. For most of us who are suffering with chronic pain for a year after its happened, the best type of yoga is Vinyasa.

With vinyasa yoga, you’ll learn to keep your movements and mobility in a fluid motion, learn to breathe exercises, and learn to keep your mind in balance.

I do vinyasa therapy every day, and it works like a charm at relieving on going chronic lower back pain with sciatica.

2. Acupuncture

This conservative treatment works best to get relief as soon as possible. From the very first session, you’ll be feeling better. I’d say it takes about 12 sessions to see improvement though. If you want got needles placed on your back, Chinese medicine has proven that it will help keep your nerve pain away.

3. Trigger Point Massage

Don’t be alarmed by having your back massaged by someone of a complete stranger to you because it’s quite the opposite of worrying, it’s the best! You might think that moving your back can do more harm, but in fact it is very effective. Your sciatic nerve sits right below the pifimoris muscle, located under neath your glutes. When this muscle gets tight, it’ll pinch the sciatic nerve, in which forth brings:

  • tingling
  • numbness

… Down into the leg. With a light pressure to the irritated and inflamed area(or trigger points) all over the lower back muscles, it’ll decrease the feeling of having a pinched nerve, and allow you to walk upright the rest of your day. Have you heard of myofascial release massage therapy? As a brief overview, it’s a form of massage that works on your fascia release and releases individual trigger points on your back. Great for a pinched nerve. Check out what trigger point massage means here.

As common as people find relief, others may not. Let me tell you what happened to me once upon a time.

A couple years back, I did this with a massage therapist for 5 days. On the fifth day, I really didn’t see the improvement I expected to see. I found temporary relief, but I had to be in there every other day. There was no choice left, but to try another form of therapy that would allow me to do things on my own(just the reality).

4. Topical/Analgesic Creams

Now, we’re getting into the entree course on our menu. SHOCKING SIGNAL: Believe it or not, topicals can reduce your nerve pain much better than acupuncture or a massage can, seriously I’m not kidding, I actually have years and years of experience with pain relief creams, and you can learn more on my article right here in our best pain relief cream if you’d like to. While there is no greater alternative to exercise, the best relief can be in the form of a topical.

If you’re familiar with the topical world, you’d know how many exhausting options there are. Some “claim” to work well but they very rarely do. Throughout the years I’ve tried just about every one you can think of. And while they brought some form of relief to my spine, and lower back, I was always left disappointed. Then A year ago in 2017 everything changed.

I was exercising to take the pressure off my nerve, but that was not always enough in every scenario. I never managed to get through my 30 minute workouts without the help of oxycodene, and hydrocodone. I thought I was done with using drugs after my bad lower back disc problems, but i was wrong.

Whenever I tried a higher impact activity like:

  • jogging
  • bicycling

… I could only for minutes before my sciatica knocked and spilled on in. I couldn’t bend forward or backwards, and side to side without my legs hurting like hell! It brings back a couple of severe memories.

It was not until I decided to use my special blend of my favorite pain relief cream Penetrex that I made the impossible possible. It’s the only one of its kind that can allow you to use it over and over, then use less and less of it.

It’s a great because it attacks the root of the cause, inflammation. With the use of it, I can focus on strengthening my lower back, and worry less about moving and causing my nerves to pinch into my legs, and lower back.

I believe the ingredients are the best thing about it:

  • Vitamin B6
  • MSM
  • Arnica
  • Boswelia
  • Peppermint
  • Glucosamine
  • Magnesium

… To name a few of the most important ones. The reason that they work so well together for sciatica is because of the special blend in herbs and essential oils. Penetrex really does a great job at focusing on the two and helping fight back some acute sciatic pain you are having.

==>See more about Penetrex here<==

Essential oils:

A second ago I mentioned how the essential oils in my #1 pain relief cream Penetrex had enough herbs and essential oils to help bring down your symptoms of sciatic nerve pain. What I wanted to add on top of that is that you are not limited to this.

You can actually use your own pure essential oil(s) to help calm and get rid of your sciatic pain. There are more ways than applying it:

  1. By skin
  2. By mouth
  3. By massage

And that’s not even the best of all. You can create your own blend in a matter of minutes. If you’d like to learn more about essential oils click here.

As we go down, you’re going to see what you can do for even stronger sciatica pain.

5. Supplement It

I know what you’re thinking, great another supplement activist with a phone supplement to offer me. No way Jose! I am not going to be that person that tells you to go from supplement to supplement or tell you that you will never have a pain again. But what I will tell you is that there are some out there that are a complete shame, while others are completely helpful.

I’ve used supplement after supplement for anything you can think of

  • joint pain
  • muscle pain
  • neck
  • lower back
  • food

You name it, I’ve likely tried it. Finding and using the right one for lower back pain and sciatica was tricky at first. Most were great at treating the inflammation and promoting better blood flow to the area of my pain, but I just couldn’t get my pinched nerve off my pelvis and hamstrings.

It was not until I found the health back institute, that it all changed for me. They have a pretty amazing supplement named Heal-N-Soothe that will eliminate your:

  • arthritis
  • sciatica
  • lower back pain

…And so much more. When I took it for a whole week 3-4 times a day, I didn’t have any problem with sciatica or lower back pain. If you’d like to see what I’m talking about, check my review of heal-n-soothe here.

6. Ice and Heat

There’s a very specific reason why you’d need to ice or heat. The sciatic nerve is buried deep in the buttock and leg, and ice or heat by themselves alone on the surface of your body will not ease the inner inflammation. But timing going back and forth will.

==>See how to ice and heat the right way here<==

7. Muscle Relaxants

If you have sciatic pain, you’re probably familiar with non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like Ibuprofen or RX. You can use these drugs, but make sure you do safely.

==>Learn how to naturally heal your muscle pain to fix your nerve pain right here<==

I recommend going more of a natural way. You wouldn’t be spending much of your time and money on it, and you’ll see better overall results in your health.

8. Moving/Physical Therapy

You just saw how a muscle relaxant can help calm your muscles momentarily, and let the nerve in your pelvis and running up to your lower back calm down. But now it’s time to take going natural into another dimension.

Moving seems like the last thing you’d want to do, but it’s important to be physically active. Lying in bed will make your pain worse, and make it last longer. Here’s how you can start with a step-by-step process:

Task 1: Take 10 minute walks for the next 3 days. Do them in a row, or take one day off.

STEP 1: Choose a flat surface, concrete will work fine.

STEP 2: If that hurts too much, try another low impact activity like swimming.

STEP 3: You’ll want to combine either exercise you do with stretching. If you haven’t stretched yet, talk with your physical therapist for a game plan.

Step 4: After repetitive visits with your therapist, you’ll gain the power, strength, and flexibility back.

Step 5: If you’re ready to stretch on your own, I recommend Vinyasa yoga.

==>See more about how to exercise your lower back with Sciatica here<==

9. Into The Bedroom

Your bed shouldn’t keep you in rest but in motion. What does that mean, and how does that exactly look like?

People allow themselves to lay flat on their back for not only an extended amount of time, but fail to understand that the condition their bed is in is far worse. Your back needs the right support.

How will a comforter, made out of rock, and amorphous structures supplement your health? Not in a good way at all.You can rest on the bed if sciatica nerve pain just occurred. Rest for a couple hours for two days is appropriate.

After two days, you shouldn’t continue resting your back for a prolonged amount of time, less active will lead to worse pain. You want the nutrients to flow easily throughout your spine, up and down, and reduce muscle spasm.

This will result in increased flexibility, and muscle tone. At this point avoid any high impact activities. Walking is the best course of action at this time.

You wouldn’t guess how much a sleeping position will cause severe nerve pain. Back in 2016 when I had a stiff mattress, my pain in the mornings was a 10!

From dealing with disc problems, and as if non-specific pain was enough, now a hell of a nerve pain?

One night made it all change for me. It took me about 3 months to build a solid routine.

  1. Exercise/Stretch/Yoga
  2. Massage essential oils
  3. Add essential oils to a Luke warm bath
  4. 3 more yoga poses before bed
  5. sleep with a pillow between my knees

It’s proven to work well for anyone with lower back pain, but this night was different. I kept sliding left and right in the middle of the night. I remember waking up and almost wanting to cry my pain was so bad. Every other night was great, so “Why is there pain this night?

The morning was unpleasant, I was sore, I kept grabbing my back as If that was supposed to do anything. I took painkillers to help the pain.

I found out that the Technique of shaping my mattress was not supporting my back well anymore. The mattress was wearing out, and it had tears into it. Here let me show you:

At this moment in time, I knew it was time for a better mattress topper. I spent the next 3 days searching for the right one, and I came across one. After one night, my health was back to its normal state.

A year and a half after that, I bought a whole new bed that I could be proud of.

See more on how to sleep with a lower back pain here.

All the treatments above are great to significantly reduce your sciatica. The one I would go with time and time again is using the jar of Penetrex cream. It’s a start and end…

When you need to strengthen your lower back, and you need movement, it will not only treat the inflammation, but it will help build cartilage back. After re-use, you’ll be able to do all the little things you need to improve your health. Some of the results I’ve seen are:

  • Better weight management
  • Exercising
  • Stretches
  • Better mental health
  • Going natural
  • And living every day

However, if you’re looking for a complete 360 turn around, which will help cure your sciatica pain, I can vouch for the next thing I’m about to show you.

#10 Video -The Sciatica SOS reviews

Many of us have a temporary fix, and more of us are starting to learn how to deal with our back pain effectively long term. Quick fixes don’t solve the root of anything, they just cause your pain to come back as often and even more re-occurring.

A quick story about where I was to where I am now…

I was in the stage of using anti-inflammatory, such as penetrex and over the counter pain meds, and although it is a tried methods wit one of the best solutions to long term sciatica nerve pain, it doesn’t cure it. Why?

Living with chronic pain will always be something, but we can learn to manage it with the right steps and tools. After repetitive stretching, exercising and sitting on painkillers and topical ointments, and I can’t forget my family feeling sorry for me, I needed a change – a fast one.

One search after the next online I went, and wasn’t until a close friend of mine who had terrible sciatica pain for years told me about this new method to curing sciatica in 7 days, I was like “yeah right!” Who’s the scammer right?

Contrary to popular belief, I was stunned when I actually checked Sciatica SOS out. Within the first training day, my body and mind felt more powerful then it had been the whole damn year! And in just about 6 days, I was free from pain and inflammation brought on by Sciatica.

Months after, I started playing soccer again, I went to work without having to subconsciously think about the pain, and I cold enjoy the littles movements like walking up the stairs, sitting and standing up, tieing my shoes.

So before you start injecting, using pain medications, and going for anything in temporary relief lets get to talking for a little. If you haven’t tried these 3 top sciatica life changing stretches, I suggest you do these first.

The simple joys of life, such as exercise, time with family, a game of soccer with your friends, or kids can be taken away from you every day, it’s such a pain. You might not have the choice to stretch, or use found the right relief for your sciatica. So let’s try a different approach…

There are different times ahead of you from here on out. Medication is not always proven to be effective, and it will not be a play in your life on forward. There is a treatment I have become to see and be familiar with since the middle of last year. The results are proven, and it works pretty fast, as well safely. Even better is that this is done naturally!

Have you heard of the Nepalese teachings? It’s a concoction. This remedy is 2,000 years old, and in its help bring cool and calm to a body that is over energetic.

When you have sciatica, at any stage your nervous system will cause more pain to the lower extremities, which include the lower back, hips, buttocks, legs, and ankles.

With the powerful relaxing agents it helped reverse engineer the symptoms.

You might find at times that your pain is in-tolerable. If it’s been weeks, months, and even years of constant pain, it might be time to try something new. The reason I say this is because after the acute sciatica stage, there comes the chronic level.

At this point, you can’t just treat your nerve pain with heat and cold therapy, massages, medication, and other devices. So what can you do to heal completely?… hose the right treatment program as I have.

I know I definitely would if it meant getting my health back. Within just days the pain and stiffness simply will go away.

The Costs Are Nonparallel

For the cost of going for a doctor’s visit, this could cost you a fraction of that. Not only that but a specialist will cost up to $100-$200 at the very least.

You can spend just $37 on a book or more than that if you chose the other two options. Think about being pain free, this is it. Anyone at any level of sciatica will benefit from it.

Let me get into the details of what I have here for you:
