1) Lower back pain originates as acute
2) Increase in pain becomes sub acute
3) 3 months, or even 6 months after, pain turns into chronic
4) Anything greater, results in Sciatica
As you can see, lower back pain will come in a ll different shapes and sizes. You could either have a light flare, a slowly occurring and appearing injury, pain that goes away for a short time, then comes back months later, or even long-lasting.
Then there is Sciatica(Step 4 above). Unlike all the other types of lower back pains, sciatica is very easy to differentiate and spot mainly because there is no hiding it.
With my experiences, first and second hand, I want to help be your guide to treating your sciatica. There are two steps to this diagnosis. I’ll go through everything about the diagnosis, its symptoms, various treatments, and I’ll get to what is the best treatment for sciatica available. I will also explain:

Let’s get right into it.
You Can’t Treat What You Don’t Know
Like finding someone in a game of hide and go seek in the dark and just running around without a flashlight on hand, you can’t expect to find and cure your sciatica nerve can you?
Fist we have to answer this special question: “Where is the sciatica nerve?
For many of us, we struggle with an awkward pain rushing down into our leg, and causing pain signals to work their way up into our head. The slightest movement can feel like our lives are in jeopardy. But don’t give up your hopes, you’ve come to the right place for help.
What is Sciatica? For those of us that are not familiar with this word, Sciatica is a painful condition in which there is inflammation on one or multiple nerves in your lower back.
You have a pinched nerve on the lower back of your spine, and when it does, it can make its way through your sciatic nerve, which runs through the length of each of your leg, from buttock, down to the foot.
The most common cause is associated with a herniated disc. When a herniated disc tears or cracks, it will bulge into the spinal canal. From here, it’ll likely pinch your sciatic nerve.
In more specific detail, this is what’s happening:
The herniated disk is putting pressure around your nerves, which is well-known as Sciatic Nerve.
The sciatic nerve originates in the lower back, and it makes it s way down either your left or right leg, from the hips to the ankle. You could feel a numbness or tingle in your toes.
There are 3 phases of pain you can experience.
- severe pain
and along with these three levels of sciatic nerve pain, there are three conditions:
- acute sciatica. occurs suddenly, and can usually heal in a matter of days. It’s directly a tissue damage problem, where it can affect your joints, discs, nerves, muscles or ligaments.
- chronic sciatica. This is when your pain is persisting for more than 3 months, and that source might be hard to determine. The things you love to do every day are likely to be affected, and it will hold you back.
You can have the most mild symptom, but the pain simply will not go away over time. If a couple weeks pass by, then it’s time phone and check in with your doctor.
When you feel sharp pain, it can follow after a hard injury, like that of a car accident, a large fall. Usually what corresponds with it is muscle weakness and numbness in the legs.
You can detect severe pain way before it begins. At the sharp stage, you should be prepared. Why?
This is because you could have a damaged nerve. You will feel it when you are sitting for a period.
Whether you are in the lowest or highest amount of pain, it is important to always first have a check with your doctor for a diagnosis.
You’re Climbing Back Up, But the Wrong Way
Since we just covered how Sciatica can show up, whether that be acute or chronic, its only right we talk about what you shouldn’t do with it.
What does your heart and mind tell you after you’ve come across many streams of information on the web, in person, in a book, telling you the best way to treat sciatica nerve pain? I know it’s in the thousands. I want to turn your ship and help you sail in the right direction.
The source begins with what you hear from other people. First of all, lets get one thing down. Sciatica is a symptom, it is NOT a diagnosis. Second, opioids will not be an option.

Let’s start with a good old flexibility workout.
For anyone who just started with the symptoms this is the place to start. Stretching will serve two purposes. Yoga On Your Nerve?:
The #1 Way I find to decrease my sciatic nerve pain is through yoga. Whether you’re a beginner or an expert, yoga will work to fix your muscle imbalances, in so keeping your disc from compressing into your nerves.

By strengthening, and doing flexibility exercises, your sciatic nerve pain will be put at ease. For most of us who are suffering with chronic pain for a year after its happened, the best type of yoga is Vinyasa.
With vinyasa yoga, you’ll learn to keep your movements and mobility in a fluid motion, learn to breathe exercises, and learn to keep your mind in balance.

Don’t be alarmed by having your back massaged by someone of a complete stranger to you because it’s quite the opposite of worrying, it’s the best! You might think that moving your back can do more harm, but in fact it is very effective. Your sciatic nerve sits right below the pifimoris muscle, located under neath your glutes. As common as people find relief, others may not. Let me tell you what happened to me once upon a time.
A couple years back, I did this with a massage therapist for 5 days. On the fifth day, I really didn’t see the improvement I expected to see. I found temporary relief, but I had to be in there every other day. There was no choice left, but to try another form of therapy that would allow me to do things on my own(just the reality).

8. Moving/Physical Therapy
You just saw how a muscle relaxant can help calm your muscles momentarily, and let the nerve in your pelvis and running up to your lower back calm down. But now it’s time to take going natural into another dimension.
Moving seems like the last thing you’d want to do, but it’s important to be physically active. Lying in bed will make your pain worse, and make it last longer. Here’s how you can start with a step-by-step process:
Task 1: Take 10 minute walks for the next 3 days. Do them in a row, or take one day off.
STEP 1: Choose a flat surface, concrete will work fine.
STEP 2: If that hurts too much, try another low impact activity like swimming.
STEP 3: You’ll want to combine either exercise you do with stretching. If you haven’t stretched yet, talk with your physical therapist for a game plan.
Step 4: After repetitive visits with your therapist, you’ll gain the power, strength, and flexibility back.
Step 5: If you’re ready to stretch on your own, I recommend Vinyasa yoga.
9. Into The Bedroom
Your bed shouldn’t keep you in rest but in motion. What does that mean, and how does that exactly look like?
People allow themselves to lay flat on their back for not only an extended amount of time, but fail to understand that the condition their bed is in is far worse. Your back needs the right support.
How will a comforter, made out of rock, and amorphous structures supplement your health? Not in a good way at all.You can rest on the bed if sciatica nerve pain just occurred. Rest for a couple hours for two days is appropriate.
After two days, you shouldn’t continue resting your back for a prolonged amount of time, less active will lead to worse pain.You want the nutrients to flow easily throughout your spine, up and down, and reduce muscle spasm.
This will result in increased flexibility, and muscle tone. At this point avoid any high impact activities. Walking is the best course of action at this time.
You wouldn’t guess how much a sleeping position will cause severe nerve pain. Back in 2016 when I had a stiff mattress, my pain in the mornings was a 10!
From dealing with disc problems, and as if non-specific pain was enough, now a hell of a nerve pain?
One night made it all change for me. It took me about 3 months to build a solid routine.
